More than one teacher?

topic posted Tue, April 22, 2008 - 8:41 AM by  Alexandra
I am currently taking Tribal Belly Dance classes with two ( soon to be three) different teachers. While I certainly love the technique and different style each teacher brings to the class I was wondering if I am doing myself more harm than good by studying under different teachers. Any advice would be helpful!!

Thanks :)

I study with different teachers and I take workshops as well. I don't think it has any negatvie effect on my dancing. However if two of your teachers are in disagreement about the execution of movements it can be tricky to remember which one you are dancing in front of. I think the best teachers encourage you to learn as much as you want.

    in a word-- Absolutely. :)

Get it where you can! But be knowledgeable enough to know that there are good teachers, and those that are not as gifted or wise.
