Hi! I'm moving to NYC this July and am excited to connect with the belly dance community in NYC.
I've started designing belly dance Indian Gypsy style silk and sequin saree costumes on my last trip to India. I'm in green modelling with 3 of my students. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the process... from noisy smelly rickshaw rides to vibrant intense immense crowded markets to the sensory overload of rooms overflowing with sequins and silk fabrics and working with my wonderful tailor Ganu. I go mack to India in October 2008 and the plan is to make many more, with different designs. I'd love your feedback about them!

  • I am EXCEPTIONALLY proud to be the owner of one of Tara's stunning ensembles. To say that the materials are luxe is faint praise. The skirt itself is yards and yards of silk, silk, silk and the workman ship (workwomanship?) is honestly the best I've EVER seen.
She not only produces a SET that any dancer would be proud to wear, but mine came with OOOOOOOOOoooodles of accessories...I don't have to purchase a thing for it!!! I have arm and ankle bands, a handmade rose for my hair, jewelry, bindi...veil...everything.
I am the proud owner of the set worn by Tara in the photo she posted...the pink and green...I'll post photos soon...but anyone thinking about owning one of these beauties should RUN and offer their wallets to the goddess who creates these...I haven't felt this kind of connection to a costume in a VERY long time!
